Practical jQuery notes and plugin guidance
This site is an independent reference for developers maintaining websites that use jQuery. It contains concise tutorials, compatibility notes, a small set of carefully described third-party libraries, and two original utility functions you can inspect and copy.
The material is written for people who need to understand what a library actually does before adding it to a project. Each guide aims to show a working starting point, name important limitations, and link to the project’s own documentation so you can check current releases and licensing.
Start with a task
- Getting Started walks through selecting DOM elements, handling events, and sending JSON requests.
- jQuery UI Widgets explains when its maintained widget suite is useful and how to initialize a date picker accessibly.
- jQuery Mobile and responsive design explains the difference between a legacy mobile framework and responsive CSS.
- Recommendations separates genuine jQuery plugins from related libraries that work without jQuery.
- Xtreme-jQuery documents the small, copyable utilities published on this site.
What this site provides
There is no plugin catalogue, user account, support desk, or package download service here. The recommendations link to the projects that maintain each library; they are not endorsements, and project features, maintenance status, and licences can change. The Xtreme-jQuery page is the only original code published here, with a source file and examples.
jQuery is still useful in existing applications and in projects whose dependencies already use it. For new work, compare the task with browser APIs and standalone libraries as well; adding a dependency has a cost in download size, updates, accessibility review, and long-term maintenance.
